After all of the excitement of the Georgia Bulldogs being in the College Football Championship game we got down to business. We will start the budget process on Tuesday following the MLK holiday. Education, Transportation and Healthcare issues continue to dominate the spending of state funds. I will reintroduce legislation to include the remaining portion of Fulton Industrial Blvd. into the New City of South Fulton. HB21 and HB22 are still in play for this session as well. One is to allow voters to cast their ballot at any polling place in their county vs. having to travel to a designated location. The other is to have a study conducted to determine any disparaging practices in the granting of state purchasing contracts and to develop policy to correct any that are found. HB 21 Discriminatory practices are most prevalent in the places we wouldn't expect, therefore it is our duty to evaluate the unequal circumstances inflicted on the business operations of companies involving women and people of color. This bill will appoint a director who is given the power to survey every instance of inequality between businesses. HB 22 To un-complicate the voting process and create ease when going to the polls. This bill alleviates the stress of voting, by allowing constituents access to all polls in their county regardless of their home district. In this age of constantly improving technology, it is imperative that we also improve our voting process, bettering the quality of government as a whole.
