Subject: Atlanta Southwest: Stakeholders October Report
Greetings All-
Hope this email finds you all in high spirits, and you're having an
exceptional day. As promised to our commitment to transparency and
openness for the proposed business improvement district for Greenbriar
Mall, we are producing these monthly reports. In case you're unaware,
Atlanta Southwest is the steering committee for the improvement district.
We initially wanted to do a business improvement district over a community
improvement district due to immediate concerns held by business and
landowners along the corridor, but after talking with Councilwoman
Overstreet and the LCI team along with revisiting the law, we will be
moving towards a CID possibly instead.
We took on this task as we recognize the Greenbriar corridor is nestled
between the cities of South Fulton and East Point that have vibrant built
out corridors via the West Cascade Business District and Camp Creek
Marketplace. We recognize with the redevelopment of Ft. MacPherson and
continued growth in the Downtown Tri-Cities area, we as business and
community leaders wanted to take a proactive approach to address the
corridor.
Our primary concerns are quality of life, beautification, economic
development, business retention, and small business advocacy; youth
outreach and support; and perception branding. Many of these things have
been tackled on a volunteer basis through various stakeholder organizations
but wanted to have something that is ongoing to have a full-time effort and
approach. Over the next several months, we will continue to host a variety
of community events and business engagement to begin to target some of the
concerns previously mentioned.
Attached to this email are our monthly reports we present to the
Campbellton Road Business and Merchant Association members. You'll find
both the October and September report presented. Also, you will see a
flyer for our upcoming trunk or treat event that will be hosting at
Shamrock Gardens Apartments on this upcoming Saturday. Of course, you are
invited. We also appreciate your support if you can share that within your
mailing lists to help get the word out. Shortly, we will be sending out
information about our 2nd Annual Fall Business Summit that we will be
hosting at Club E Atlanta in College Park. Some of you, we have already
had previously met with and others we are anticipating on meeting soon.
We're happy to entertain any questions, thoughts, or suggestions about this
upcoming venture. Thanks for your time. Feel free to share this email
publicly with your listservs as well.
Sincerely-
Dominique Huff
